Bertram Kvist is an actively performing saxophonist who has played in a wide range of musical contexts. From jazz to pop and indie rock, genre is secondary — it's the strong melody that comes first, along with the ability to bring it out into the world without hindrance.
Since 2022 he has released several albums, both in his own name and with various groups, and is considered an experienced presence on the Danish jazz scene. His great passion for ensemble and big band music has led him to create and perform compositions with his own ensemble, leading to his latest release "The Ones We Once Were" in 2026 performed by the Bertram Kvist Ensemble.
Bertram holds a Bachelor’s degree in Rhythmic Saxophone from the Syddansk Musikkonservatorium (University of Southern Denmark Academy of Music) and is currently studying a Master’s degree in Composition.
"Bertram has shown great skills as a composer and arranger across different genres, exhibiting a broad knowledge of compositional tools and techniques."...
"... he shows a desire to learn
more about the art of arranging and how to make use of it in his own music and compositions."
Erik Ørum Von Spreckelsen,
Associate Professor,

"There's something profoundly Nordic about this way of narrating transformation. Not just in the choice of harmonic colors or melodic openings, but in a particular emotional discipline.
The album seems to understand the value of silence, waiting, and half- lights. It never forces intensity; it lets it accumulate slowly, like snow on the edges of a side road."
